The fear of not being able to support her young family should her start-up business not succeed initially put Alissa off from making her product concepts a reality, but in December 2012, she decided to take the plunge and drafted a business plan. Needing money behind her to develop her products, Alissa applied for a bank loan but was declined as she was unable to demonstrate that she had pre-orders.
Alissa founded Izzy Melody in February 2013, producing innovative UK made baby products. The launch product is the I.M BabyBangle, a silicone toy for infants that doubles up as a beautiful accessory for mum to wear when out and about. After buying materials, packaging, manufacturing and testing, the I.M BabyBangle was ready to launch, and Alissa loves her venture so far. She is committed to fulfilling her wishes that Izzy Melody becomes a trusted and desired brand in the baby market.
The Delivery Partner
Alissa was introduced to the Start-Up Loan scheme by her Delivery Partner, Merseyside Investment Fund. She was granted her loan within six days and assigned a mentor to guide and support her, which was vital for her to achieve her goals and deadlines.
Alissa’s advice to budding businesswomen to,” take all of the business support that is there.”
