Shirine Khoury-Haq

Shirine Khoury-Haq is the Group Chief Executive Officer at Co-op, a role she has held since August 2022. She made history as the first female and first ethnic minority CEO in the organisation’s 180-year history and has led the business through a period of transformation, resilience, and growth. She has been a Director on the Co-op Board since joining as Chief Financial Officer in 2019 and also served as CEO of Life Services, overseeing Co-op Funeralcare, Insurance, and Legal Services.

Before joining Co-op, she was Chief Operating Officer for the Lloyd’s insurance market and has held senior roles at IBM, McDonald’s, and Catlin Group. She has also been a Non-Executive Director at Persimmon Plc, where she chaired the Audit and Risk Committee. With a track record of modernising businesses and driving strategic change, Shirine is passionate about building sustainable organisations and advocating for greater inclusion in leadership.
