Martha Ferguson – Specsavers everywoman in Retail Ambassador

Having worked her way up from the shop floor aged 16, gaining experience with several high street fashion retail businesses including Whistles and Principles, Martha Ferguson set her sights on launching her own business. Identifying a gap in the market, she launched kitchenware store, Papylon in 2011, selling a range of contemporary kitchenware that mixes style with function. In just two years, Martha has been the recipient of five awards including ‘CHA Young Retailer of the Year’ and ‘Housewares Rising Star’, as well as achieving a first class degree in Fashion Design from Nottingham Trent University.  She also won a scholarship from The Retail Trust, enabling her to attend the Oxford Masters training programme in 2013.

Martha is a strong believer in the value of sharing her knowledge and experiences to encourage other women into making their dreams a reality, and regularly gives talks at schools and businesses centres, as well as finding time to assist A level students and has trained a work experience placement. Judges were impressed with the recognition Martha has received at such a young age, and tipped her for huge success in the future.
